Delineators & Channelizers

Delineators and channelizers keep drivers on the right side of the line — through curves, along medians, around work zones, and anywhere a lane edge needs to stay visible after dark or in bad weather. Zumar's traffic delineator posts range from SAFE-HIT® flexible guide posts rated for repeated vehicle strikes to driveable and surface-mount SHUR-FLEX® systems, all built to take a hit and keep working.

How to Choose a Delineator or Channelizer

Zumar's delineator and channelizer line breaks into four categories: Anchors, Guide Posts, Driveable Delineators, and Surface Mount Delineators. Which one you need comes down to how the post gets set and what it's marking.

Guide Posts

Zumar’s broadest category — SAFE-HIT® flexible marker posts, driveable roadmarkers, and portable or permanent sign systems

  • SAFE-HIT® posts guaranteed to withstand 20 vehicular impacts, in white, orange, yellow, or brown
  • Roadmarkers in 62 to 84-inch lengths, white/yellow/grey
  • Sign systems in 42 or 48-inch heights, removable and reinstallable, custom signs available

Anchors

Ground and surface anchors that set a post or delineator in place

  • Soil anchors (18-inch) or concrete anchors (8-inch)
  • Twist-lock anchors, sub-level or sub-surface
  • Surface mount anchors with drive pins or twist lock

Driveable Delineators

SHUR-FLEX® and SHUR-TITE® posts and hardware built to be driven straight into the ground

  • 54 or 60-inch posts with a 13-inch flat top
  • Driveable “K” marker, square tube anchors, clevis pins
  • SHUR-TITE® driver head and slide hammer driver to set them

Surface Mount Delineators

SHUR-FLEX® and SHUR-TITE® posts and hardware built to bolt or epoxy onto an existing surface

  • 36-inch round-top post, anchor bolts, T-joint fittings
  • Surface mount base, including a sloped option
  • SHUR-TITE® concrete traffic barrier and guardrail post

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a delineator post?

A delineator post is a flexible or driveable marker used to outline the edge of a travel lane, median, or work zone so drivers can see where the road continues in low light or poor weather. Zumar’s flexible posts, like the SAFE-HIT® K Marker Post and Flat Top Guide Post, are rated to withstand 20 vehicular impacts and can be surface-mounted on concrete or asphalt, or installed in soil in a matter of minutes.

What are traffic delineators used for?

They’re used anywhere a lane edge, curve, or median needs to stay visible without a permanent structure — construction zones, curves, medians, parking lots, and fire lanes. Zumar’s lineup covers that range: flexible SAFE-HIT® posts for general delineation, driveable roadmarkers (62 to 84 inches long) for low-profile lane marking, and portable sign systems for signage that can be removed and reinstalled.

How do you install a flexible delineator post?

Most of Zumar’s flexible posts install one of two ways: surface-mounted directly to concrete or asphalt, or set with a soil anchor, which typically takes just a few minutes. Which anchor you need — an 18-inch soil anchor, an 8-inch concrete anchor, or a SHUR-FLEX® surface mount — depends on the surface and whether the install needs to be permanent or removable.
